Direct from Source Our matcha is directly sourced from a 3rd generation family farm located in the lush hillsides Wazuka, Kyota, Japan. The clay-rich soil is optimal for cultivating green tea leaves that ultimately become our ceremonial grade matcha.
Superior Cultivation The Okumidori Cultivar is a remarkable blend of Yabukita and Shizuoka Zairai tea plants. This well-balanced cultivar delivers a delightful combination of umami, a touch of astringency, and a refreshing, elegant aroma.
Traditionally Harvested Tea leaves are plucked once a year in May during peak harvest season. After leaves are picked, they undergo a rigorous process of steaming, drying, sifting, and cutting to prevent oxidation.
Freshness Guaranteed The leaves are stone-ground into a fine powder, sealed in airtight bags, and placed inside Dona tea tins. We air-freight our matcha direct from Japan, shortening shipping times from 3-4 months to several weeks. To maintain freshness, store matcha in the refrigerator.
MATCHA PREP If you don't have a matcha or tea bowl, any wide mouth, ceramic or porcelain bowl will work. We suggest using a matcha whisk made from white bamboo to thoroughly combine matcha powder with water without scratching your bowl.
MAKE MATCHA Scoop 1 tsp (2 g) matcha into your bowl. Add 2.5 ounces of 170F hot water. Whisk vigorously until matcha is frothy and matcha is combined.
ENJOY HOT OR ICED To create an iced matcha latte, pour your whisked matcha from your bowl into a glass of ice, add 6 oz of milk of choice, stir & enjoy. For a hot matcha latte, add whisked matcha to a mug, add 6 oz of hot or steamed milk of choice.
