Shop / jade leaf matcha powder
After tasting the most delicate matcha from an organic farm in Japan, our founder Li Gong had an epiphany. He left his Silicon Valley job and set out on a mission to bring high-quality, organically-farmed matcha to the masses, founding Encha Matcha in 2014. Our goal is to share the same rich, tender matcha Li Gong first tasted with the world — from our farms in Uji, Japan to your cup at home.
We use ancient traditions for growing shade-grown, hand-picked, stone-ground tea leaves — which makes all the difference for quality, flavor, and health benefits. Encha's matcha is USDA Certified Organic — our farms are 100% certified organic, which means we never use pesticides or synthetic fertilizers and we regularly test for heavy metals and harmful chemicals.
There are three grades of Encha matcha. Ceremonial Grade is ground from premium, first harvest leaves, which are the most tender, offering a delicate, smooth taste best enjoyed mixed with water. Latte Grade is ground from standard, first harvest leaves, picked each spring, and best mixed with the milk of your choice. Culinary Grade is ground from premium, second harvest leaves, with a subtly sweet, earthy taste, ideal for cooking and baking.
Matcha differs from green tea in several ways. Matcha leaves are shade grown, producing more theanine, which offers a sense of serenity to balance the caffeine. We also remove the stems when making matcha powder, creating a softer flavor. And by consuming the whole leaf, you get additional health benefits, like antioxidants.
"With Encha, I want us to show to the world that organic-only is possible, affordable and enjoyable. I want to grow the Encha community 'organically' through education and personalized support," says Li Gong, Ph.D., Founder of Encha.
Encha Ceremonial Grade Matcha provides 6 hours of clean energy without jitters or a crash, thanks to its antioxidant-rich composition. Our USDA Certified Organic matcha comes exclusively from our farms in the hills of Uji, Japan, where we use centuries-old traditions for growing, shade-growing, and hand-picking the tea leaves.
Encha offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you don't like our matcha, let us know, and we'll make it right. Our 30g size of Ceremonial Grade lasts 2 weeks with daily 1 tsp (2g) consumption, and you can subscribe to ensure you always have matcha on hand.
