Pantenger Organic Matcha is brimming with powerful antioxidants to detoxify the body, calm the mind, boost the immune system, and burn fat. Drink Pantenger Matcha for healthy-looking skin, sharper focus, and unbeaten stress relief. Pantenger matcha is sweet and creamy, with a sweet taste and fresh "green" aroma due to the L-theanine produced by an excess of chlorophyll.
Pantenger Matcha Green Tea Powder Ceremonial Grade is the highest grade of matcha available in Japan and is used for the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It is organically grown in Kagoshima Prefecture by a ninth-generation family-owned tea estate that has accumulated over 250 years of artisan expertise. The tea leaves are grown under shade for three weeks before the first flush of spring, hand-picked, and then powdered using traditional granite stone mills.
The 20 days of shade force the plant to overproduce chlorophyll, which is what makes the tea a vibrant emerald green. Low-quality matcha is pale and yellowish. Pantenger Matcha Ceremonial Grade is milled using granite stone mills, resulting in a silky texture.
There are five key ways to determine the highest quality of matcha: origin (Japan), method (shade-grown, hand-picked, stone-milled), color (vibrant emerald green), texture (silky), and taste (sweet with a fresh aroma).
The difference between Ceremonial Grade and Fine Culinary Grade lies in the tea variety or cultivar. Pantenger's Ceremonial Grade is a more complex matcha, containing leaves from four different cultivars: Asatsuyu, Saemidori, Okumidori, and Ya-bukita. The Fine Culinary Grade is 100% Saemidori, which has a brilliant green liquor and the highest amino acid content of all Japanese cultivars.
Matcha is different from regular green tea because you are imbibing the actual tea leaves, as well as the high levels of L-theanine produced by the shade-growing process. One cup of Matcha is equivalent to 10 cups of high-quality green tea in terms of health benefits.
Brewing a perfect cup of matcha requires the correct dose (1/3 teaspoon), the right water temperature (160°F to 170°F), and the traditional Japanese tools (bowl, whisk, and spoon). This will extract the sweet, soluble components like L-theanine while avoiding the bitter, astringent ones.
Matcha is a source of powerful antioxidants, promotes mental alertness and calm, strengthens the immune system, and aids in weight loss. Pantenger's mission is to promote tea culture in the United States and ensure the best teas are known and accessible online and in-store. Their teas are sourced from respected producers, with a focus on quality, safety, and sustainability.
